Product Engineer

Cleaver Brooks Canada

This is a Contract position in Fort Saskatchewan, AB posted February 14, 2021.

Qualified candidates will have 3 or more years of engineering experience.

They will be responsible for multiple tasks within the Engineering department including R&D, engineering calculations, testing (incl.

witness testing), certification, scheduling, coordination with fabrication facilities, and project completion.

May include such functions as: product design and technical definition, development of bill of materials, product modification, and technical support of a product line and problem resolution.

Technical emphasis is on combustion as well as hydronic design.

Responsibilities : Provide support in bringing to the market new appliances from conceptual design to finished product, on time and on budget.

Provide support in sustaining engineering of existing products.

Conduct R&D and laboratory testing.

Provide engineering support for jurisdictions compliance.

Provide technical support to the CAD department.

Provide engineering support to production.

Stay abreast on industry trends, government regulations and new product development.

Provide engineering support to customers.

Support sales process in terms of specification and design.

Schedule individual projects, make adjustments as needed to ensure project completion in projected time frame.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Basic: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering degree.

3 years Product/Mechanical Engineering experience with manufacturers of gas fired hot water appliances or relevant products.

Experience in the heat transfer industry is required.

Knowledge of residential, commercial, or industrial HVAC equipment and components such as heat exchangers, boilers, water heaters, fans, pumps and controls.

Good understanding of manufacturing (fabrication, machining and assembly) processes.

Technical knowledge and ability to utilize variety of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, etc.

Ability to manage multiple assigned tasks and projects and work within a multi-discipline engineering team with minimum supervision.

Preferred: Knowledge of industry standards for gas fired water heating equipment such as CSA, UL, ASME, AHRI, etc.

Knowledge of ASME boiler and pressure vessel design (Section IV) is a strong asset.

Knowledge of combustion and hydronics design.

Experience with electrical concepts as well as instrumentation and controls are preferred.

Experience with Inventor, AutoCAD Electrical, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a plus.

Experience with an enterprise management software, specially IFS is a plus.

Professional Project Management skills is a plus.
