Scale Operator

BURNCO Rock Products Ltd

This is a Contract position in Fort Saskatchewan, AB posted August 13, 2022.


BURNCO is currently hiring a highly dependable Scale Operator for our Northern Alberta Aggregate Division. This is a seasonal, full-time position, working primarily out of our Keephills and Genesee pits. As the successful candidate you may also be required to work from time-to-time at our Ponoka or Lacombe operations. You will work closely with Central Dispatch so having an understanding of aggregate products and scaling operations would be very useful. This is a floater position so as the successful candidate you will be required to rotate through locations dependent on business needs. Early starts: 5:30 AM with flexibility to work Saturday’s and Sunday’s if/when needed.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Process payments and submit reporting to after-sales support for deposit and reconciliation
  • Data entry of orders and scale tickets
  • Direct truck drivers with confidence to ensure delivery of correct materials to the job site
  • Enforce safety rules at the pit
  • Complete measurement conversions and daily administrative tasks
  • Answer phones and handle walk-in inquiries while delivering top-class customer service


What We Would Like From You

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in aggregate would be an asset


  • Highly organized and capable of multi-tasking
  • Energetic team player, motivated and able to work conscientiously and independently
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations
  • Proficient in basic computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Early riser, with ability to work flexible hours/shifts including weekends (during peak season)
